Yes, because platitudes are SO helpful to someone who’s in the kind of pain that leads to suicidal ideation. And nobody ever has ever said “it gets better” or “permanent solution to a temporary problem” or “you’re better than this” to a suicidal person before. Nope, this is entirely original and groundbreaking and gosh, why didn’t anyone think to say these things before, because it definitely changes the agonizing pain and/or crushing depression that brings someone to that brink.

What got me the most about this scene is how emotional Fionna is when she thinks she’s going to lose Marshall. You can see all her emotion and the pain as well as her love for him. You can see how she’s internally struggling with whether she wants to be mad at him or just sit there and comfort him. But even through all of this, she isn’t going to let his mind games affect her. She cries, but she doesn’t lose herself to his influence. She is genuine. She genuinely cares for him.

I love the messages in this show. Wish I had it growing up.

Man, I don’t know how to interpret this. It’s only recently that I’ve even learned that most people have physical sensations associated with emotional states. Does this just show *where* said sensations are, or is it supposed to suggest something about the nature of those sensations as well?

the more lines there are, the more people feel sensation there when feeling that emotion,

I know some of the lines go beyond the body, and YES it is possible to feel that (it’s like phantom limbs beyond the body)

I’ve been a wheelchair user for almost a year now, but do not have a wheelchair-accessible apartment. This is painful as all hell, and is only getting worse, as my GP is on maternity leave for three more months, and her replacement refuses to prescribe pain meds for me. I don’t have a diagnosis yet; we know that all sorts of stuff is going wrong in my body, but we haven’t discovered how it connects yet.

That’s me on my heart monitor. My heart health is extremely unstable right now, but again, we haven’t found out why.

Unfortunately, what was at first just a painful living situation has now turned into an abusive one. I rent my apartment from my mother, who was extremely neglectful to me as a child (to the point that she is the reason I’m legally blind), and continues her manipulation and abuse to this day. Well, she just came into my home and announced that she’d be moving in. We’d planned to find handicap housing by June, but now I need that date moved up drastically, because I fear for my mental health otherwise, and how such personal deterioration will affect my daughter.

Unfortunately, handicap-accessible is not only hard to find in this area, but also extremely expensive. We cannot move very far, because my partner is under contract with his employer for two more years (and he is the sole breadwinner, as my physical health has deteriorated so much, and my daughter’s bio dad does not contribute to her care).

What I’m trying to say is, I’m desperate. I’m desperate as hell. We need at least $6000 to be able to move, and we are living paycheck to paycheck. I’m terrified of what will happen to me and my family if we can’t make this change as soon as possible.

So, I’m asking for help. Please, if you can afford even a few dollars to help us reach our goal of moving, I would be so grateful. Merida will be the typical Gryffindor, getting into troubles and hates Jack at first until she realizes that not all Slytherins are bad and not all Gryffindors are good. (Maybe she sees him being bullied by one of the Gryffindors idk) She likes hanging out with Rapunzel because she always help her with homeworks and preparing for adventures in Forbidden Forest.

Rapunzel is a pureblood Ravenclaw who once got kidnapped resulting in her parents reluctance in sending her to Hogwarts. But her thirst for knowledge and desire for friends convince them to let her go. She’s considered weird by the other Ravenclaws for being excited over the smallest things. Close to Merida and one time they argue about Jack being evil or not.

Hiccup’s father is a muggle but knows a thing or two about Wizarding World since his wife was a witch. The Hat immediately sorts him into the Hufflepuff and he feels his dad is going to be disappointed for not being in the “Hero House”. He becomes best friend with Jack fast, although he was a bit afraid of him at first.

Jack is an orphan muggleborn who got adopted by an old powerful wizard named Nicholas North Frost. He lived on the streets at first, making his wits and cunning much sharper than your average kids. When he heard one of his Housemates called his dad a “Traitorous Pig” for not supporting pureblood supremacy, he snaps and accidentally reveals himself as a muggleborn.

And then they became the first inter-house group study ever.

What's Going on in the Rockaways and NYC

On Friday, Mara (who is far more active than I in nonprofits and volunteer works) pointed me towards Astoria Recovers, which was organizing volunteers to go down to the Rockaways and help out down there. I’d tried signing up with other organizations, which hadn’t gotten back to me, so we went with this one. The recovers people are part of a greater, more spread out movement called Occupy Sandy (if you’re not in the Northeast you can donate to them here. There was hardly any FEMA, LIPA or NYC sanitation presence in the Rockaways. While, as I do believe, these companies are doing a modestly okay job with the resources they have, the Occupy people have been far more proactive in getting resources to the people who have been devastated by the storm. I also talked to a very friendly and generous group of Sikhs from a coalition of Queens gurdwaras who practically forced a plate of (very tasty) hot food on us. Churches were also out in full force as well; there were many generous groups offering food and help.

Speaking as someone who has never been in a disaster area before, it’s hard to imagine until you’re actually there. We saw all of these images from Katrina, and perhaps being inundated with images like that from the likes of Roland Emmerich and Michael Bay our whole lives, the seriousness of the actual situation perhaps loses saliency when you see those images on the television and online, and not in real life. I think that was the case for me; one hears about the tragedy in New Orleans, or in Haiti a couple of years ago, or in Japan last year, the list goes on, but there’s a lack of subjectivity when you see it on a screen; images of disasters that look familiar, as we’ve seen similar in movies.
